The "cigarette card" game recently popular among primary school children uses derivatives of tobacco products and may arouse imitation and curiosity about "smoking" among minors; its potential risks should not be underestimated and it has triggered wide public debate.
31 May marks the 37th World No Tobacco Day, with the theme "Protecting young people from tobacco harm". World No Tobacco Day is set on the day before International Children's Day in the hope that the next generation will be free from the harm of tobacco.
The number of smokers in China exceeds 300 million
Every year more than 1 million peopledie from smoking
The rate of second-hand smoke exposure among non-smokers is 68.1%
Some 700 million peopleare exposed to second-hand smoke
Smoking can cause more than a dozen types of malignant tumour
as well as a range of respiratory, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
and type 2 diabetes, among others

Quitting smoking is never too late
# Whenever you quit, you gain a longer life expectancy.Research shows that smokers lose about 10 years of life on average compared with non-smokers. Quitting at 60, 50, 40 or 30 can gain you roughly 3, 6, 9 or 10 years of life expectancy respectively. The earlier you quit, the greater the health benefit and the more years of life gained.
# The additional years of life gained after quitting are"healthy years of life", accompanied by less disease and disability. Quitting is better than not quitting, and quitting early is better than quitting late.

If you really cannot quit…
If you genuinely find it very hard to quit, it is recommended that smokers over the age of 40have a chest X-ray or CT examination every six months; smokers face a 10–20 times higher risk of lung cancer than non-smokers, andannuallung cancer screeningshould not be neglected either.
As a leader inclinical proteomics, ProteinT offers dedicated solutions for lung cancer risk screening, diagnosis and treatment in smokers.
ProteinT non-invasive lung cancer risk screening
—— PT-ESLCTM
PT-ESLCTM is a non-invasive, convenient and efficient lung cancer risk prediction product. Based on the lung cancer risk screening model independently developed by ProteinT, it calculates a lung cancer risk score and assesses the individual's risk of developing lung cancer. With only 2 mL of blood it can provide precise early warning of lung cancer risk, with a sensitivity of 86% and a specificity as high as 93%. It offers a one-stop answer to the clinical pain points in lung cancer diagnosis: the high false-positive rate of LDCT screening, the difficulty of judging whether small nodules are benign or malignant, the risks of needle biopsy and the subjectivity of physicians in reading diagnostic results.
The product uses liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to perform whole-proteome testing on blood samples from individuals at high risk of lung cancer. Its development rests on ProteinT's core patented technology for enriching low-abundance plasma proteins, and the corresponding plasma protein and peptide extraction or purification reagents have been approved (registration number: Jin Xie Bei 20230397).
Prediction of post-operative recurrence risk in ProteinT stage I lung cancer patients
—— PT-L1TM
PT-L1TM LC-MS/MS technology is used for proteomic testing of the patient's tumour tissue, and a recurrence risk score is calculated from the model to assess the patient's risk of recurrence within 5 years after surgery. PT-L1TM achieves sensitivity and specificity as high as 96% and 86%, with a negative predictive value (NPV) of up to 98%, enabling precise assessment of recurrence risk and bringing clear clinical benefit to patients.
