Tailoring treatment to the individual and delivering precise strikes are the mission and pursuit of precision medicine. Among the many tumors, lung cancer is the most common tumor worldwide, with its incidence and mortality ranking first among all malignant tumors. Driven by the development of multi-omics technologies such as genomics and proteomics, major progress has been made in all aspects of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, including screening, diagnostic examinations, surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. On August 6, 2022, the "2022 Annual Meeting of the Molecular Targeted Therapy Committee of the Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association," hosted by the Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association, was successfully held in Shantou, Guangdong Province. The conference invited many industry experts to gather together to conduct in-depth discussions on the current status and development trends of basic research and clinical application of targeted therapy for lung cancer. ProteinT was invited to attend and shared its exploration and prospects of lung cancer MRD detection, and brought a liquid biopsy solution based on plasma proteomics. The attending experts held in-depth discussions, making beneficial explorations for the precision diagnosis and treatment of tumors including lung cancer in the future.

Deeply analyzing the hotspots of tumor targeted therapy, and looking ahead to the forefront of clinical application. This meeting was chaired by Professor Yang Haihong of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University and Professor Dong Xiaorong of Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and was sponsored and supported by Pfizer and Roche. In the opening address, Professor Yang Haihong of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University proposed that the advances in precision treatment and targeted therapy of tumors are changing with each passing day, providing new means for medical workers and bringing new hope to patients; the Anti-Cancer Association will further strengthen academic exchanges, promote academic prosperity and discipline development, standardize diagnosis and treatment practices, enhance diagnosis and treatment service capabilities, and drive the standardization and innovation of tumor diagnosis and treatment. Subsequently, Professor Jiang Yi of the Cancer Hospital of Shantou University shared "Advances in First-Line Research and Prospects for Treatment Strategies in ALK-Positive NSCLC Patients," expressing anticipation for the latest development of macrocyclic ALK TKI drugs currently in research after resistance to third-generation ALK drugs. Professor Tong Fan of Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, shared "Immune Upgrade—Optimized First-Line Choices for Advanced Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma," comprehensively analyzing the treatment of advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma from the perspective of immunotherapy. Dr. Li Jie, CEO of ProteinT, shared from the technical side on the current status and future of tumor MRD detection, and shared the exploration of early lung cancer detection and plasma proteomics liquid biopsy. In Professor Yang Haihong's "Multidisciplinary Comprehensive Treatment of Local Meningeal Involvement in Lung Cancer," she shared in detail how, in clinical tumor treatment, individualized clinical treatment plans under the guidance of evidence-based medicine are determined through multiple aspects including clinical research evidence, clinician experience, and the patient's personal wishes. Professor Ma Hongwu of Dafeng Hospital of Chaoyang District, Shantou City, shared in detail typical cases from actual application.

Since its establishment, ProteinT has always focused on protein-centered multi-omics precision medicine and has accumulated a rich database. This time, Professor Li Jie, CEO of ProteinT and Director of the Tianjin Key Laboratory of Clinical Multi-omics, was invited to give a presentation titled "Current Status and Future of Tumor MRD Detection," combining the research status and application value of tumor MRD detection, conducting detailed sharing and discussion with multiple clinical experts and proposing new solutions. He also shared ProteinT's exploration of liquid biopsy based on plasma proteomics. Relying on ProteinT's independently developed nanomaterial low-abundance protein enrichment technology, it has breakthrough increased the number of blood proteome proteins monitored by mass spectrometry from 400+ to 4000+, which can serve as the technical guarantee for obtaining novel protein MRD markers and developing more universal and individualized MRD monitoring schemes. Based on this technology, in the future it will also have application value covering assessing recurrence risk, guiding adjuvant therapy, clinical efficacy monitoring, determining whether patients can enter a drug holiday, and determining the tumor burden in patients, among others. This technology also aroused strong interest and heated discussion among the attending experts. After the keynote sharing, the attending experts conducted in-depth discussions around the selection of treatment strategies for ALK patients, the strategy choices for patients with inoperable lung squamous cell carcinoma, and the application scenarios of MRD, the current status and confusion of MRD testing, and frequently asked questions of Dr. Li Jie, which is expected to bring a brand-new prospect for the prognosis of early-stage lung cancer patients, greatly improving the accuracy of postoperative treatment and recurrence prevention, and reducing overtreatment.

The development of medicine cannot be achieved without continuous exploration and breakthroughs. At the conclusion of the conference, Professor Yang Haihong expressed the hope that this event would serve as a platform to continuously explore the precision diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of many cancers including lung cancer, and to promote the application of more innovative technologies in clinical practice. ProteinT will also continue to use innovative technologies to continuously create market demand and continuously drive medical development, bringing innovation to the discovery and treatment of more diseases and benefiting more patients!
